Johnny “George” Ross, 72, of Point Cedar, passed away Sunday, February 28, 2010 at his home the same place where he was born on October 23, 1937. He was a truck driver by trade, but enjoyed running hunting dogs, deer hunting, rodeos, and having breakfast with the men at Trudy’s Cafe in Amity,
He was preceded in death by his mother, Hazel Lambert Ross, brothers, Jack, Doyce “Bo”, and Roger Ross.
Survivors are his father, Johnny Ross, brothers, Jimmy “Tub” Ross all of Malvern, “JR” and wife Sharon Ross of Conway, Mother of his children, Joanne Ross. His children, Johnny and wife Janet Ross of Prattsville, Lou Ann and Harlan Burris of Malvern, Rita and Joey Collins of Thomasville, GA, Lucky and Penny Ross of Malvern, Shari and Chad Batchelor of Poyen. Four grandchildren, Nikki Burris, Steve Ausmus, Hayden Burris, and Brice Batchelor and great grandchild Jace Ausmus.
Per George’s request there will not be a funeral service but a casual gathering of friends and family at Regency, Wednesday, March 3rd from 5PM until 7PM.
His wishes were to be cremated so there will not be a viewing.
Graveside Memorial service will be Thursday, March 4th 11:00 a.m. at Philipi Cemetery in Point Cedar where a brief scripture and a few words will be spoken. His ashes will be scattered at his home place in a private gathering at a later date.
