Obituary

Stella Ann Clifton Golding, 75, left this life on Saturday July 30, 2022, at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. She was surrounded by her family and passed away peacefully.  Ann was born in Sparkman AR to William Mitchell and Estelle Shirron Clifton, and grew up in Malvern, where she was a treasured member of her community.  Ann was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, William Joseph "Bill" Golding, her daughters, Lori Newman and husband Joel of North Little Rock, Amy Purdy and husband Rob of Houston TX, and son, Jamey "JP" Golding, and wife Dede of Malvern. The absolute lights of her life were her grandchildren, Hannah and Haylee Newman, Nick Purdy, and Colby Rucker.  She also leaves behind her three wonderful sisters, Sue Burks (Randy), Barbara Hall, and Mary Beth Roseberry (Richard).  Also, sisters-in-law Gloria Phillips and Alyce Smothers. She was a cherished aunt, cousin, and friend to countless others.

Ann graduated from Malvern High School in 1964. She began a banking career and retired from a local bank.  She married Bill in 1967 and they began a beautiful life together.  She was a faithful member of Third Baptist church where she served on the finance committee and held the position of church treasurer for many years.  Her faith in Jesus was strong and true and she was a shining example of a Godly Woman.

Her family has heard countless stories over the last few days of her selfless giving.  She was a caregiver, a fierce protector of those she loved and oh how she loved her people.  If Ann loved you, you knew it.  Her hugs were abundant, and her words of encouragements were endless.  Her family could not ask for a better example of grace, love, and how important family is.  If you are blessed to still have your mother, hug her, call her, mend fences, it can all be over in the blink of an eye. We rest in the knowledge that we were loved, and she was loved and adored, and she knew it.

Visitation will be held Tuesday August 2, 2022, from 12noon until 2:00pm at Third Baptist Church with services starting at 2:00pm with Bro. Tom Strike and Bro. Bobby Goodknight officiating.  Pallbearers will be Colby Rucker, Justin Roseberry, Brandon Roseberry, Jeff Burks, Rob Winters, and Shane Byrd.  Honorary pallbearers, Michael Hall, Mark Hall, and Dr. Shawn Purifoy.  Due to the space at Cooper cemetery, there will be a private burial for family only.  In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to Third Baptist Church or the Arkansas Food Bank.

The family would like to thank Dr. Shawn Purifoy for his compassionate and loving care, the Baptist Medical Center Med Flight Crew, and her doctors and nurses in the BMC CCU. They were capable, gracious, and compassionate and we were grateful.
