Obituary

Barbara Mays Collie, age 75, finished her journey on this earth May 26, 2024, and is now at home with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (II Cor. 5:7-8). She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Barbara was born May 3, 1949, in Malvern, Arkansas to Alvin Woodrow Mays and Vivian Daniell Mays.

She was predeceased by her parents and two nephews, Jeffrey Mays and Luke Adams.

She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, high school sweetheart, and best friend, Harold Ronnie Collie, her loving daughter, Cheryl Collie Thornton (Kevin), five precious grandchildren: Sydney Thornton of Peoria, IL, Chloe Thornton of Kansas City, MO, Caleb Thornton of Greenwood, MS, Shelby Thornton of Jonesboro, AR, and Noah Thornton of East End, AR, one brother, Ronald Mays (Margaret), one sister, Donna Robbins (Buddy), three nieces: Stephanie Collie (Darrell Boles), Brandi Dingler (Mike), Brooke Dedman (Scotty), two nephews: Brian Collie (Melissa), Mark Adams (Krystal).

Barbara loved her Lord and wanted His love to always shine through her to everyone she met. She loved serving her Lord through the abilities He provided as long as her health allowed (Eph. 2:8-9). Her prayer was for the Lord to bless His Word as it was shared around the world so the lost would accept Jesus as their Savior (John 3:16). "In Christ and For His Glory!"

There was a private family memorial service.

In lieu of flowers and food, memorials may be given to Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 797 Mt. Zion Rd, Malvern, AR 72104. Special thanks to Dr. Ray Bollen and Elite Hospice for their exceptional care.
