Obituary

Barbara Ann Burnett McAnally, age 89, of Malvern, passed away Sunday, February 8, 2026.  She was born September 26, 1936 to L. C. and Alice Sandage Burnett.

Barbara, the eldest daughter of 6 six siblings, married young and lived in many different states during her first marriage that fostered a love of traveling to new places.  She was a wonderful cook who could always give advice on how to improve a meal and an accomplished seamstress sewing many dresses for her 5 daughters.  She enjoyed embroidery and piecing quilts for her children and grandchildren.  She loved to garden and preserve the food she raised.  She held a variety of jobs in her lifetime to provide for her children and was retired from Hot Spring County Solid Waste Authority.  She was a faithful member of Harmony Primitive Baptist Church.  She enjoyed reading, playing Mexican Train dominoes, traveling to new places, camping, and spending time with her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, the father of her four oldest children, Tom (Junior) McKim; husband and father of her youngest child, Jim Jackson; and Dale McAnally; brothers, Larry Burnett and (infant brother) Jerry Burnett.

Survivors include her daughters, Paula Shaffer of Arkadelphia, Rhonda Smith (Ronnie) and Cheryl Whitley (Ken) of Donaldson, Lisa Kennedy (Sid) of Hot Springs, and Kelli Fairris (Jeff) of Hamburg; siblings include Thomas Burnett, Mitchell Burnett, Mary Phillips, and Doris Holloway.  She was blessed with ten grandchildren: Nikki Golden, Shelly Green, Dawn Starkey, Heather Fowler, Bryan Smith, Chris Morrison, Monty Whitley, Casey Lea, Dylan Michaelis, and Devan Michaelis; 19 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.  Other special people in Barbara's final years include her niece Patty Burris and caregiver Ralanda (WeeWee) Abby.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, February 10, at 2:00 PM at Harmony Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Dan Samons and Elder Neil Phelan Jr. officiating.  Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM prior to service. Burial will follow at Ouachita Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Bryan Smith, Chris Morrison, Monty Whitley, Dylan Michaelis, Devan Michaelis, Ethan Campbell, Avery Smith, Scott Ezell, and Aidan Morrison.

Honorary Pallbearers will be the Deacons at Harmony Primitive Baptist Church.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Hospice Homecare of Hot Springs, her nurse Maddi Hardage, and the Hospice nurses at CHI St. Vincent in Hot Springs.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Harmony Primitive Baptist Church or the Ouachita Cemetery.
