Benny "Toad" Lee Freeman, 79, of Sparkman, left this world straight into the arms of Jesus on Monday, October 17, 2022. He ran his race up to the finish line courageously. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Sometimes known as "Little Papaw" and "Poppy". Benny and Mary Dell Roark united in holy matrimony on November 4, 1989. Benny was a humble man, a hard worker and loved the outdoors. He was known to help anyone in need. He loved to hunt and fish, gospel music and singing with his brother, Billy and the Sonliners for over 40 years. He graduated from Henderson State College and had a degree in business. He retired from Ray White Lumber Company. He was an avid gardener and loved to give friends and family vegetables. He was a Southern Baptist and was a member of First Baptist Church of Eagle Mills.
He leaves behind his wife of 32 years, Mary Freeman of Sparkman; sons, Bobby Freeman (Linda) of Sparkman and Gregory Freeman of Bryant; daughter, Paula McCarther (Mike) of Little Rock; three step daughters, Teresa Roark of Camden, Belinda McKnight of Malvern and Renee' Banda of Sparkman; brother, Phillip Freeman (Kathy) of Sparkman; sisters, Donna Gluck (Tim) of Sparkman, Nina Fallin of Gurdon and Sarah Stiffler (David) of Jacksonville; grandchildren, Jared Freeman of Sparkman, Tiana Freeman of Sparkman, Amecia McCarther of Little Rock and Wayne Burnett of Sparkman; his children's mother, Shirley Martin of Ocean City, Mississippi and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 20 from 6:00-8:00pm at Regency Funeral Home.
Services will be Friday, October 21 at 10:00am at Regency Funeral Home with Brother James Cox and Brother Billy Reed officiating. Burial will follow at Lindsey-Poyen Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Phillip Freeman, Jared Freeman, Justin McKnight, DeWayne Dillard, Wayne Burnett and Zack McKnight.
The family would like to give a special thank to Heartland Rehabilitation and Care Center in Benton for their loving care.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CASA of Fordyce, 203 North Clifton, Fordyce, AR 71742.
