Obituary

Charles Julian Butler, age 80, of Bismarck (formerly of Malvern), passed away Tuesday, February 3,2026.  He was born October 27, 1945 to the late Elbert and Alix (Beerstecher) Butler.  He was a U.S. Veteran having served in the Arkansas National Guard.  He was a member of Rockport Methodist Church. Charles began his working career as a carrier for the Malvern Daily Record, which was founded by his grandfather J. H. Beerstecher, at the age of 12. He was a member of the Malvern High School 1963 graduating class and went on to attend Henderson State University and eventually graduated from Pines Vocational College.  He worked in maintenance and construction all of his life and retired as a mill wright and welder from Alcoa/Almatis.  He loved animals and enjoyed fishing.

He is preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Julian and Kate Beerstecher and Charles and Elberta Butler; aunt, Frances Beerstecher; and his in-laws Marvin and Martha Thomas.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years and 8 months, Judy Thomas Butler; daughters, Jill Donihue (Donnie) of Diamondhead and Kris Wilson (Todd) of Bismarck; grandchildren, Ashley Al-Bacil and her children Layla, Aaliyah, and Cairo; Jordan Donihue (Bre) and their children Brody Donihue and Elaina Albery; and Chase Walker; step grand-daughters, Janie Bailey (Luke) and Katie Wilson; and numerous cousins along with a host of friends.

No services are planned at this time.
