Charles I. Brooks, 68, of Malvern passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2023.  He was born May 26, 1955, in Story City, Iowa the son of the late Edward John and Glenna Jean Schultz Brooks.  Charles worked as a forklift operator at Acme Brick for 44 years.  He served as deacon at Gospel Light Baptist Church for 22 years.  Charles enjoyed watching football, especially the Arkansas Razorbacks, spending time with his grandkids, attending church activities and sitting on his front porch.  Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Kenneth Brooks, John Edward Brooks, Wanda Faye Brooks and Linda Avant and his grandson, Jeffery William Cole Clenney.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 48 years, Wanda Beck Brooks; daughters, Mona Holmes (Adrian) of East End and Kelly Jean Smith (Jason) of Star City; brothers, James Brooks of Sheridan, Frank Russell Brooks of Sheridan and Daniel Brooks of Utah; sister, Jean Boddie (Bruce) of Tull; grandchildren, Katelyn Inglis (Joshua), Sierra Dawn Tipton (Aaron) and Autumn Lynn Magby (Cody); great grandchildren, Tinleigh, Jaxson, Caisen, Mason, Emerson and Addie; sister-in-law, Christy Beck; brother-in-law, Danny Beck; his pastor, Jon Horton (Teresa) and a host of nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Thursday, June 1 at 2:00pm at Gospel Light Baptist Church.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to service.  Burial will follow at Lone Hill Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Fred Compston, Jason Teague, A.J. Horton, Danny Beck, Nars Clata and Kelly Smith.
