David Hughes, age 74, of Oak Grove Community, walked into the arms of Jesus Thursday, February 15, 2024. David was a living testimony of faith, love, and patience. His love for the Lord showed in the way he lived his life and loved his family and friends. Before his health failed, he was an avid fisherman and former Deacon and current ordained Elder at Prairie Bayou Church.  He was a true prayer warrior and was always willing to share these prayers with those in need. He will be remembered for his patience, grace, and faithfulness.

David was predeceased by his parents, Emmitt Sylvester and Pearl Laverne Hughes, brother Ronnie Hughes, and his wife who he referred to as Sweetie, Lois Hughes.

Left to cherish his memory, brother, Paul (Sherry) Hughes; nephews, P.J. (Brandi) and Andrew (Gina) Hughes; great-nephew, Hunter Hughes; great-nieces, Liliana and Michelle Hughes, and Annalee (Chris) Branham. He had a special bond with his cousin Jeanette Burroughs and friends he loved like daughters, Chanda (Randy) Hale, and Melody Phillips. His stepchildren; Larry (Lily) Porterfield, Kyle (Janie) Porterfield, nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren and many cousins, friends, and church family.

Pallbearers are his nephews, great nephew and cousins, Harold, Royce and Alan Hughes. Honorary Pallbearers are the staff of Encore Nursing and Rehab, Malvern, AR.

Visitation will be held Monday, February 19th at 10am at Prairie Bayou Church with the funeral service starting at 11am, with Bro. Kelly Thomas officiating. Burial to follow at Prairie Bayou Cemetery.
