David Matthews, age 68, of Donaldson passed away Wednesday, December 1, 2021.  He was born May 5, 1953 to the late Granville and Alta Sue Williams Matthews. David drove a tractor trailer truck and did mechanic work for Donnie Cannon.  He was also a mechanic for Martin Marietta for several years.  He loved to ride his motorcycle, build bird houses and bird feeders.  David was a good mechanic and he liked to tinker with things.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Granville and Alta Sue Williams Matthews; great grandparents, Conar Garland (Sam), Ressie Taylor Matthews and Homer and Eula Basham Williams.

Survivors, daughter, Susan "Jan" Matthews of Paducah, KY; sons, Michael Matthews of DuQuoin, IL and Justun Matthews of Arkansas; brothers, Jerry Matthews (Brenda) of Malvern, Richard Matthews (Charlotte) of Donaldson and Mark Matthews of Friendship; grandchildren, Kayle Armstrong, Madison Matthews, Lauren Matthews, Reese Matthews and Riley Matthews; aunt, Betty Williams McDade of San Manuel, AZ and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, December 3 at 2:30pm at Ouachita Cemetery with Brother Ronnie Hardin officiating.  Pallbearers will be Nick Matthews, Ken Matthews, Dawson Plyler, Todd Nichols, Matt Williams and Horace Gene Matthews.

The family will meet at the home of Matt and Kelley Williams after the graveside service.
