Obituary

Dorotha Kersey, age 90, went to meet her Lord Jesus Christ on July 19, 2023. She was married for 63 blessed years to her soul mate Boyd, the only love of her life since grade school at Kirby.

"Dot" worked at pharmacies, grocery, and department stores to help support her husband and children while he was attending State College in Oklahoma and Bible College in Texas, while being a loving mother and immaculate homemaker. She was called by God to be a preacher's wife to serve as Sunday school teacher, youth and music coordinator, and singer at multiple churches in Arkansas, Texas, and Oklahoma for 56 years during her husband's ministry. Dot was a wonderful cook and loved to crochet, sew, do crafts and paint, usually giving her beautiful creations away to church members, friends and loved ones. Dorotha was a member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church at Kirby.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Cathie; parents Jesse and Dimple; husband Boyd; sister Linda and husband Bobby; brother Harlon; brother-in-law Joyce; and sister-in-law Susie.

She is survived by sisters Joyce Nell and Brenda and her husband Bill; brother Melvin; son Rickey and wife Patricia; daughter Connie and husband Wayne; grandchildren, Ryan, Kevin, Natalie, and husband Stephen; great-grandchildren, Michael, Aries, Seph, Isabella and Elijah; Blame and wife Kirsten; great-great-grandchild, Timberlynn; many beloved nieces, nephews, and many extended Kersey family members. Special thanks to her sister Joyce Nell and late husband Joyce, brother-in-law Billy and wife Mary, late sister-in-law Quilla and husband Joe; and niece's Penny, Vicki, and Karen, who provided much love, care, and support for Dot and Boyd in their last years at home.

Much appreciation to the administration, nurses and staff from Twin Rivers at Arkadelphia and Encore at Malvern who loved and cared for Dot in her final years. A memorial service for family and friends will be announced at a future date.
