F. Dewaine
Loy
Aug 26, 1972 — Oct 30, 2026
Bismarck, Arkansas
F. Dewaine Loy was born on August 26, 1972 to C.W. and Cynthia (Rosewell) Loy. He crossed the finish line on October 30, 2026 at the age of 54. He attended school in Bismarck and was of the Christian faith.
Dewaine developed a passion for horses at a young age, beginning his career in the horse industry in his early teenage years. He started out riding bucking horses before discovering his true passion was in horse racing. He worked in many roles on the racetrack before eventually becoming a professional trainer. His career was highlighted by 384 wins and more than $7.6 million in earnings, a testament to his dedication, talent, and love for the sport. Dewaine was active in the ARTBHA, AR HBPA, ITBOA, and the IA HBPA. He was also a supporter of the Arkansas Thoroughbred Retirement Program.
Beyond the racetrack, Dewaine had a deep passion for hunting, fishing, and the outdoors. He was a longtime member of Big Bend Hunting Club. He cherished spending time with his “brothers” whether they were hunting, fishing, sharing stories, or simply enjoying one another’s company.
Dewaine was also a gifted chef who took great joy in preparing a good meal for anyone willing to gather around his table.
In 2001, Dewaine was blessed with a daughter, Britney Ann Loy. Being a girl dad was one of his greatest joys. He loved taking Britney hunting, fishing, and horseback riding, creating memories they would carry with them for a lifetime. He also spent several meaningful years helping raise his nephews, playing an important role in shaping the men they are today.
In 2020, Dewaine met the love of his life, Taylor. They were married on April 25, 2025, and built a marriage centered on love, devotion, and one another. Together, they enjoyed their shared passions for horse racing, family, concerts, traveling, gardening, and the simple beauty of quiet moments at home.
Dewaine had a heart of gold and a love that knew no boundaries. He never looked at a family tree to decide who mattered most to him. He created family wherever he went, never met a stranger, and had “brothers” across the country. His love and generosity touched countless lives, and he filled so many roles with unwavering devotion: uncle, father, brother, and best friend. He was affectionately known as “Unk” by far more than just his own nieces and nephews.
Dewaine will be dearly missed by his beloved wife, Taylor Loy; his daughter, Britney (Michael) McCormick; his mother, Cynthia McHenry; his mother-in-law, Marla (Danny) Shepley; his Granny, Deloris Shepley; his Godmother, Pat Stuckey; his siblings, Mary Douskourt, Kathy Loy, David Mays, Joe (Jacinda) Mays, Sandra Mays, and Steven (Misty) Loy; his nephews, Heath (Cortney) Loy, and their daughter Fisher, Clay Loy, and his son Ethan Loy, along with a host of other nieces, nephews, and cousins. His “brothers’, Jerry (Cindy) Harmon, Brandon (Jessica) Adami, Jimmy Desoto, Sherman (Cheryl) Prince, Odie Belford, Doug (Brooke) Chapman, Blaine Williams, Shannon (Tammy) Dorland, CJ Williams, Gabe (Chessa) Baswell, Wayne (Andrea) Baswell, and many many others who were blessed to call him a friend or family.
He was preceded into death by his father, C.W. Loy; his stepfather, John McHenry, his brother, Clifford (Tina) Loy; and his mentor, Chuck Stuckey.
Though Dewaine has crossed his final finish line, his legacy will live on in the horses he trained, the family he loved, the friendships he built, and the countless lives forever changed by his kindness. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
