George L.
Thurber
Sep 13, 1944 — Apr 29, 2024
Friendship
George L. Thurber, age 79, of Friendship, AR, passed away on April 29, 2024, in his home. He was born on September 13, 1944, in Magnet Cove, AR, the son of George Felton and Edith Wallis Thurber. George was a graduate of Magnet Cove High School and Henderson State University. He was a math teacher and a basketball coach. He was an entrepreneur running Malvern Livestock Auction before opening T &T Trailers in the early 1980's.
Between his sale barn days, his trailer business, and his other endeavors, George had many acquaintances, friends, and family by choice. George was known far and wide for his work ethic, his no – nonsense approach to life, and his willingness to always help anyone who asked. He will be remembered fondly and missed greatly, but we all know that he had to move on because he had "shit to do".
George is preceded in death by his parents, and wife, Kaye White.
Left to cherish his memory, children, Lisa Carpenter (J.D.) of Sparkman, Shawn Thurber (Christy) of Saginaw, Laura Parish (Matt) of Saginaw, and extra son, Ray Thurber (Darla) of Lonsdale; stepchildren, Tina White of Friendship, Angie Allmon (Jason) of Texas, and Pate White (Crystal) of Fairbanks, AK; grandchildren, Jenna Thurber (Jaycee) of Kansas City, Megan Tate (Hunter) of Bryant, Kyle Thurber of Friendship, Marshall Thurber of Lonsdale, Mandy Rowe (Ryan) of Mena, Megan Hall (Trae) of Mena, Angie Ferguson (Jef) of Benton, Hailee Martinez (Joey) of Benton, Tucker Norris of Maryland, Addison Norris of Murfreesboro; 5 great-grandchildren and 2 on the way; siblings Sylvia Hughes of Malvern, Jone Bomestar of Mt. Home, Robert Thurber of Lufkin, TX, Judy Brown of Malvern, and Clinton Thurber of Malvern.
