Gloria Faye Oates Harris "Mer" age 87, of Malvern, passed away Saturday, September 14, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Mack Oates and her husband of fifty-eight years, Conrad Harris.

Gloria was born October 22, 1936 in Victoria, Texas to C. F. "Red" Oates and Frances Oates. Her father worked in the oil fields causing her to move across Texas during her school-aged years. She later attended Abilene Christian University where she studied Physical Education. In 1958 she met active airman Conrad Harris, who affectionately nicknamed her "Go Go" because she stayed on the go. After only six weeks of courtship, Conrad asked her to marry him and she accepted. Shortly after the proposal the couple had a disagreement resulting in the end of their relationship … or so they thought. Conrad was so distraught that he requested the Air Force to send him as far away from Texas as he could get. The couple reconciled and were married prior to Conrad's deployment to Iceland. After returning, Conrad worked in the oilfields of Texas for a year prior to the couple coming to Arkansas. The couple had three children, Laura Lisenbey (Darrell), Jason Harris and Joel Harris (Lisa). They were blessed with six grandchildren, Aaron Lisenbey, Kina Burruss (David), Scarlett Lewallen (Wayne), Dalton Lisenbey (Rebecca), Autumn Harris and Ian Harris; followed by seven great-grandchildren. Ayden, Riley, Jaxson, Davin, Rebecca, Levi and River. Mer was a member of the North Main Church of Christ. She loved coaching softball, fishing and running a free food and clothing pantry. She never missed an opportunity to catch a fish, watching the Razorbacks or an episode of Perry Mason. Mer was known for her quick-witted sarcastic remarks, her mischievous grin, and for having just the right amount of sass for any situation. She will be missed by so many but leaves behind a legacy sure to last forever.

Visitation will be 5:00 until 6:30 PM Monday, September 16th at Regency Funeral Home.

Services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday September 17th at Regency Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Jacobs Cemetery near Sheridan. Pallbearers will be Ayden, Richardson, Riley Lewallen, Jaxson Burruss, Davin Burruss, Ian Harris and Dalton Lisenbey.

In lieu of flowers, family requests memorials to the local charity, Go Go's closet, founded in her honor to assist local foster children and their families at 170 Cedar Rd.
