H.L. Abercrombie, Jr. age 92, of Malvern passed away Friday September 17, 2021 at his home. He was born on October 13, 1928 in Benton, Arkansas the son of H. L. and Hallie Murray Abercrombie, SR. He U.S. Air Force veteran, was a graduate of LSU with an engineering degree and pursued a career in Petroleum Engineering, but also was called to preach and pastored several churches in Arkansas. He was currently a member of Second Baptist Church in Malvern. H.L. was an avid gardener, photographer, ham radio, electronics and computer enthusiast. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Vicki Dees; granddaughter, Kathryn Grace Abercrombie; brothers, Bobby Abercrombie and wife Dorothy and Vaughan Winston Abercrombie.
Survivors are his wife, of 70 years, Mary Sue Shockley Abercrombie; son, Larry Abercrombie (wife Suzie) of Garland, Texas; daughter, Carol Fox (husband Billy) of Portland, Oregon; grandchildren, Mitchell Dees (Stephanie) of Owassa, OK, Cherissa Roebuck (Lucas) of El Paso, TX, Russell Dees (Rebekah) of Broken Arrow, OK, Tyler Dees (Meagan) of Siloam Springs, AR, Brandon Abercrombie of Garland TX, Sydney Fox Wagener (Jeremy) of Portland, OR and Peter Fox of Portland, OR; great-grandchildren, Addison, Preston, Hadleigh, Max, Maggie, Xander, Millie, Annabella, Lorelei, Roman, Grayson, Avonlea, Charlie and Asa; son-in-law, Kerwin Dees (Nancy) of Tulsa, OK, and nieces, Janet Thomas (Bryan) and Lisa Haynes (Donnie).
Funeral services will be Friday, September 24, 2021 at 1:00pm in the Regency Funeral Home Chapel with Billy Fox, Kerwin Dees and Brother Joey McDermott officiating with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at 3:00pm at Pinecrest Memorial Park near Alexander. Pallbearers are Mitchell Dees, Russell Dees, Tyler Dees, Peter Fox, Michael Blancher and Donnie Haynes.
