Harris "Leroy" Brooks, 89, of Houston, TX, passed away Dec 19 ^th, 2022.

Leroy was born May 9 ^th , 1933, to the late Lona and Harris Brooks in Rolla, Arkansas.  He grew up with his two sisters, Wanda "Joy" Faucett and "Bonda" Loy Crowder, his half-brother Bern Benjamin Brooks, and five half-sisters, Vivian, Faye, Maxine, Willa, and Shirley.  Leroy spent much of his younger years hunting in the woods surrounding his family's home with his loyal dog "Sam" and helping his parents with their local General Merchandising Store duties.  Growing up, Leroy and his family often attended the Rolla United Methodist Church.

October 19 ^th , 1953, Leroy married Glendal "Jean" Ratcliff in Malvern, Arkansas, and soon after relocated to Vacaville, California.  There LeRoy was stationed and served at the Travis Air Force Base.  After completing his service, Leroy and Jean relocated to Houston, TX, where they raised their two children, Connie Lyn Bullard and Harris "Roy" Brooks.  After retiring from a long successful career with Texas Eastern Transmission, "a pipeline company."  Leroy and Jean moved around Houston and East Texas for several years, making great friends in towns such as Spring, Mexia, Jacksonville, and Palestine, TX.  In East Texas, Leroy and Jean found a love of square dancing and found many friends in that circle.  Leroy was a faithful member of many United Methodist Churches and even a founding member of the Klein United Methodist Church near Spring, TX.

Leroy was a devoted husband, loving father, engaged grandfather, and entertaining great-grandfather.  Anyone that met him would remember his firm handshake, bright blue eyes, tight hugs, and whisker kisses.  He was always smiling and incredibly kind.  He would do anything for anyone.  He was a passionate outdoorsman who loved animals, fishing, hunting, camping, and farming, and he enjoyed sharing his passions with his family.

Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, Harris and Lona Brooks, his half-brother, Bernes, and half-sisters Vivian, Faye, Maxine, Willa Dean, and Shirley.

Left to cherish memories of Leroy are his two sisters Wanda "Joy" Faucett and "Bonda" Loy Crowder; his loving wife of 69 years Glendal Jean Brooks; daughter Connie Bullard of Houston, Texas; son Roy Brooks and wife, Karen Brooks of Houston.  He is known as "Grandpa" and "Pawpaw" by his four grandchildren, Jesse Bullard, Wendy Niemczak and husband Kevin, Harris Brooks, Sarah Brooks, and his two great-granddaughters Haley and Jenna Niemczak.

A funeral service to celebrate Harris Leroy Brooks' life will commence at 2:00pm on Wednesday, the 28 ^th day of December 2022, at Regency Funeral Home.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to service.  Interment to follow at Lono Cemetery.
