Magnet Cove

Obituary

Isaac "Ike" Andrew Scott, age 94, of Magnet Cove moved to his heavenly home January 11, 2023. He passed away at CHI Hospital, Hot Springs. He was born August 13, 1928, at Scotland, Arkansas, the son of Jim and Ruby Louder Scott. He and Louise Thomas were married July 20, 1957 at Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church.

Ike was a loving husband for 65 years, a devoted father, a devoted Christian, and a devoted son-in-law to Louise's parents. His in-laws loved him like their own. He was a faithful member of Magnet Cove Missionary Baptist Church.

His family moved from the Ozarks in 1941. His very first job at age 13 was working for Mr. Carl Wilcox as an ice boy delivering ice in the local area. He cherished those memories. He worked at Magnet Cove Barium (barite underground) 10 years as a Shift Foreman. Upon closure of this mine, he worked for National Lead (Baroid) Underground 21 years, also as a Shift Forman. Upon the mine's closure he worked for Ouachita Gravel Company 25 years. Ike believed you showed your worth by being a hard worker.

He enjoyed yard work, hunting and fishing, playing bluegrass music, going to bluegrass music get-togethers, and going to church. He played the guitar and banjo and was in Cooper Road Band for some time.

He is predeceased by his parents, his son, Coy Lynn Scott, brothers, Ben, Jesse, sisters, Alta, Ruby, Doney, & Jewell.

Survivors are his wife, Louise Scott, and daughter, Charlotte Scott, and many nieces and nephews.
