Jackie Dale Clayton, 85, of Malvern passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at Encore. He was born August 10, 1937, in Van Buren County, Arkansas, the son of the late Lawrence and Lema Sneed Clayton. Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Curtis Clayton. Jack was a long-standing member and deacon of Harmony Primitive Baptist Church in Donaldson.
Jack had his hand in many businesses during his lifetime. He loved working with the public and influenced many of Malvern's youth throughout his many years in business. He will be remembered by many from his West Department Store, Western Sizzling and Clayton House days. Jack was always looking for the next business adventure.
Jack was a founding member of the Frontier Funtimers in Malvern and The Old Field Deer Camp in Rolla. He was a scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 21 in Malvern. He was active in the Malvern Chamber of Commerce serving once as President and he also served on the HSC Hospital Board.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Henrietta Clayton of Malvern; children, Phil (Denise) Clayton of Mayflower, AR, Teresa (Darren) Burroughs, Mike (Stacy) Clayton and Debbie (Michael) Thornton all of Malvern; grandchildren, Spencer Burroughs, Jacqueline (Matt) Nutt, Bree (J) Keith, Nicole Thornton, Devin Bradley, Savannah (Rusty) Jackson, Mollie Thornton, Rianna (Cullen) Nicodemus, Pake Clayton and Lane (Baylie) Clayton; great grandchildren, Piper, Grayson, Arya, Bodhi, Sloane and baby girl, Nicodemus arriving in July.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 23 from 5:00-7:00pm at Regency Funeral Home.
Memorial service will be hold on Friday, February 24 at 10:00am at Regency Funeral Home with Brother Dan Samons and Brother Neil Phelan, Jr. officiating.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Shawn Purifoy, Gentiva Hospice, Gay Buttrey, and Encore Nursing Home.
