James Henry Hathcock, 82, of Social Hill, Arkansas, went home to the Lord on March 30, 2026.

James was born in Malvern, Arkansas, on April 29, 1943, to the late Rosie Strobel and Emmet Lester Hathcock.

James lived a full and meaningful life defined by unwavering hard work, love for his family, and a character that left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. He retired in 2010 from Acme Brick after many years of dedication.

James was a beloved brother, dad, uncle, cousin, but most importantly, Pa. He was the rock—the cornerstone of his family—dependable, trustworthy, and loyal in every sense of the word. He was a steady presence; someone you could always turn to no matter the circumstance. Known for his strength and skills, James was a talented builder who could fix anything. Whether working with his hands or helping someone in need, he was always one people could count on.

Beyond his hard-working nature, James had a joyful and vibrant side that brought warmth to those around him. He loved ballroom dancing, hunting, fishing, and riding motorcycles with his friends and family. He had a great sense of humor and brought laughter and light wherever he went. He was the toughest man we knew, yet incredibly kind and loving, with a huge heart that he shared generously.

James loved his sons deeply, but he took special pride in his grandchildren, who meant the world to him. To them, Pa was 10 feet tall and bulletproof. His legacy of love, strength, and devotion to family will live on through them.

James will be greatly missed by everyone who loved him, leaving behind a space that can never truly be filled, but a love that will never fade.

James is survived by his special companion of 22 years, Amy Lazar; his brother, Richard Hathcock (Cheri); his sons, James Ray Hathcock (Shelly), Mike Hathcock (Hannah), and George Hathcock (Julie), all of Social Hill; his grandchildren, Jason (Taylor), Alicia (Eric), Kevin (Ashley), Matthew (Michaela), Lilly, Mackenzie, Kaylee, Jarrett, and Hallston; his great-grandchildren, Zane, Hattie, Dallas, Canton, Mason, Luke, and one on the way; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father; stepmother, Mae Hathcock; brothers, Raymond Hathcock and Leonard Hathcock; and sisters, Judy Tolleson, Nancy Decker, and Rena Taylor.

The Hathcock family would like to extend a special thank you to all of his friends in the dancing community who were a big part of his life, as well as to his hospice nurse at CHI St. Vincent and two nurses who went above and beyond to care for him, Becca and Ande.

The family will be gathering at James's house, 8195 Antioch Rd.

Visitation will be Monday, April 6, from 10:00 – 11:30 AM at Regency Funeral Home with Funeral Service to begin at 11:30 AM with Bro. Craig Tolleson officiating.  Burial to follow at Prairie Bayou Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Jason Hathcock, Kevin Hathcock, Matthew Hathcock, Jarrett Hathcock, Zane Hathcock, and Blake Tolleson.

Honorary pallbearers are Richard Hathcock and Robbie Eisenrorh.
