Obituary

J.D. Mitchell, age 84, of Glen Rose, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2024, in his home surrounded by his family. He was born on June 7, 1940, in Glenwood, AR, the son of Jewell Delois and Rachel Reid Mitchell. J.D. was a member of the U.S. Air Force where he served 20 years. He also worked at Central Bowling lanes for 20 years. J.D. attended Reyburn Creek Missionary Baptist Church. He was a board member for Lone Hill Cemetery Association and was a charter member of Malvern Camp Hunting Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, and watching ballgames. He especially loved fishing Thursday night tournaments on Lake Catherine with his grandson for over 25 years, and spending time with his kids, grandkids and great-grandkids.

J.D. is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Ruby Mitchell; and brothers, Stevie Mitchell and Michael Mitchell.

Left to cherish his memory, loving wife of 66 years, Sue Mitchell; sons, Dennis Mitchell (Cathy) of Glen Rose, and Kenny Mitchell (Debbie) of Glen Rose; brothers, David Mitchell (Holly) of Reno, NV, and Gary Mitchell (Cindy) of Chico, CA; grandchildren, Kenny Wayne Mitchell, Larry Mitchell, James (Aerial) Mitchell, Meranda Upshaw (Bryan), Russell Crowe, Jesse (Dovie) Mitchell, and Bo (Gabby) Mitchell; great-grandchildren, Kamryn Ballard, Kynlee Mitchell, Brooks Mitchell, Jarrett Mitchell, Mitchell Walter, Sarah Walter, Shawn ,William and Karson Mitchell, Quentin Mitchell, Roland and Roxas Mitchell.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 19th, from 6-7pm, with the memorial service starting at 7pm, at Regency Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Todd Bray officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lone Hill Cemetery Association (6685 Possum Trot Rd. Malvern, AR 72104).
