Jim Paul Franks, age 91, of Malvern, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2026 in Hot Springs. He was born in Amity, AR to the late Jack and Carolyn (Fincher) Franks. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Lions Club of Magnet Cove. He was a retired speech and drama teacher as well as a long-time guidance counselor at Malvern High School and went on to work at the State Department of Education. In February of 1961, he married the love of his life, Clyda Joyce Blevins. They were married for 56 wonderful years. He was a faithful follower of Jesus and was a member of Third Baptist Church where he served as the Sunday School Superintendent and Moderator. Spending time with his grandkids and great-grandkids was one of his greatest joys in life.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Clyda Franks; and brother Jerry Franks.
Survivors include his sons, Todd Franks (Janet) of Rockport and Neil Franks (Kendra) of Jefferson City, Missouri; brother-in-law, Mike Wells of Magnet Cove; sisters-in-law, Madge Franks of Hot Springs and Ginger Sexton of Magnet Cove; grandchildren, Ben Franks (Cali), Laura Dymock (Trey), Daniel Franks (Emily), Adason Thornton (Alex), Nathan Franks, and Travis Franks (Layla); great-grandchildren, Oakley, Reese, Audie, Theo, Franklin, and Lucy as well as numerous nieces and nephews who will all miss him.
Funeral Service will be Thursday, May 7, at 10:00 AM at Third Baptist Church with Bro. Tom Strike officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 – 10:00 AM prior to service. Burial will be at Rockport Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ben Franks, Daniel Franks, Nathan Franks, Travis Franks, Alex Thornton, and Trey Dymock.
Memorials may be made to Third Baptist Church Awanas Program.
