Jimmie Catherine Rook went to be with our Lord and Savior on Monday, September 14, 2026. She was born December 28, 1932, in Pecan Point, AR to William D. Gower & Delia Prince Gower. She spent her youth in northeast Arkansas before meeting her husband, Bobby. They married on November 12, 1954. They had two daughters, Janie Fitzgerald (St. Paul, Minnesota) and Shirley Rook Evers (Las Vegas, Nevada).
The family moved to Arkadelphia in 1979. Jimmie was a seamstress at Levi’s and then Alf’s. When Alf’s closed, she then began a long career as a department manager for Walmart over greeting cards and stationery. She retired after 25 years.
She spent her retirement years tending to her multiple gorgeous flower beds and traveling the world with her daughter, Shirley, and her best friend, Ann Kelly. She was a lifelong Christian and a member of Pine St. Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother William and sisters, Aline and Nell. She is survived by her husband, Bobby, daughters Janie & Shirley and her husband, Tom, granddaughter, Jana Fitzgerald, grandson John Fitzgerald Jr., three nieces, Joy Neighbors of Heber Springs, AR, Lisa Montgomery of Winchester, VA, and Paula Hamilton of Junction City, AR
Jimmie was a devoted wife, incredible mother, sweet grandmother, loving sister, caring aunt and beloved friend to many. She was a blessing to all who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be at Pine St. Church of Christ in Arkadelphia on Monday, September 21st at 10 am with the celebration of life following at 11 am. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Stamps, AR.
