Malvern

Obituary

John David Myers, age 85, of Malvern, passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2025.  He was born on September 4, 1940 in Sparkman, Arkansas to the late Arnold and Sarah Annette Myers.

He lived in Camden, Arkansas for many years where he worked with the Ouachita County Sheriff's Office. Upon moving to Malvern, he worked as a security guard up until his retirement.  He was a member of Third Assembly of God Church in Malvern.

John was well known for his singing and his love for The Lord. He loved his family, driving, and preaching the gospel. One of the greatest joys in his life was helping raise his grandkids. He was nicknamed "The Wanderer" many years ago as he moved from place to place. He was always laughing, making jokes, and was always so good natured and relaxed.  He is now where he wants to be, in the arms of his beloved Savior.  If he could speak to you right now the first thing he would ask is, "Hey, do you know Jesus?"  He now has his Peace in the Valley and will be missed greatly. And as 2 Timothy 4:7 says, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith". And that's definitely what he did.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Phyllis Myers; son, John David Myers Jr. (Tad); granddaughter, Victoria Myers; sister, Nancy Harrington; brothers, Raymond and Jackie Myers; and by his ex-wife and lifelong friend, Mitzie Myers.

He is survived by his son, Jeff Myers (Helen); stepson, Marvin Young; brother, Charles Myers; sister, Carolyn Deahl; granddaughters Jessa Knight (Keith N.) of Poyen, AR and Caitlin Myers (Trystan Savage) of England; grandsons, Kasson Myers and Hunter Myers (Caitlian E.) all of Malvern; great granddaughters, Raylin Knight of Poyen and Charlotte Savage (Charlie) of England, AR; great grandsons, Rheese Saulsbury of Poyen , Owen and Arless Myers of Benton, and many nieces and nephews.
