Johnny Logan Harper age 79, of Magnet Cove, passed away Saturday, April 25, 2026 at his home. He was born November 2, 1946 to J. M. and Vivian Imogene "Becki" Hooper Harper. Johnny was a graduate of Prattsville High School Class of 1965. He was a lineman for Entergy for thirty-six years. Johnny served in the Army National Guard and was a member of Harmony Baptist Church in Prattsville.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing, was a member of Malvern Bass Club, Clearwater Hunting Club and Jones Hill Hunting Club. He also enjoyed his faithful wiener dogs, Izzy and Coco.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Mike Harper; stepmother, Dorothy Harper; two brothers-in-law, Clifton and Raymond Herrington; two nephews, Bryan Launius and Lee Richardson.
Survivors are his wife of fifty-eight years, Novilla Harper; two daughters, Tammie Teague (Mitchell) and Cristi Nitch (Jeff) all of Magnet Cove; one brother, Jimmy Harper (Sandra) of Prattsville; two sisters, Marcia Paxton (David) of Prattsville and Cindy Richardson (Ron) of Grapevine; four grandchildren, Laken (Chizum), Catelyn (Jeremy), Carli and Trent; five great-grandchildren, Logan, Claire, Ava, Hope, Carter and Joshua; two sisters-in-law, Dianna Launius (Gary) of Glen Rose and Marilyn Herrington of Magnet Cove; several nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be 6-8 PM Monday, April 27th at Regency Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 2:30 PM Tuesday, April 28th at Regency Funeral Home with Bro. Bruce Gilmore and Bro Bobby Goodnight officiating. Burial will follow at Magnet Cove Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be his nephews, Danny Harper, Chad Launius, Dustin Harper, Jeremy Harper, Gabe Herrington, Chad Harper, Rob Paxton, Brian Harper and Brandon Paxton.
Honorary pallbearers are David Young, Blake Pierce, Dean Teague, Coy McDougal, Dan Holland, Steven Barnes and Dave Bennett.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Higginbotham and staff and Elite Health and Hospice Home Care for their excellent care given during his illness.
