Larry Boyd Abernathy was born on July 13, 1944 to Boyd Martin Abernathy and Bessie Bea Adams Abernathy in Lake Village, AR.  He passed away on July 8, 2023 in Clarksville TN peacefully with loved ones around him.  He is from Friendship, AR, but has lived with his daughter Becky and her family in TN for the last 5 years due to health issues.  He was a self-employed carpenter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Robert Abernathy, Billy Wayne Abernathy and sisters Katherine Abernathy, Betty Roberts, Edna Dean Nelms, Martha Sue Burgess, daughter in law Jennifer Abernathy, and a cousin J.C. James.

He leaves behind his 3 children, Becky Hilliard (Doug) of Dover, TN, Jason Abernathy of Gurdon, AR, Beth Leach (Chris) of Sutherlin, OR; 6 grandkids, Kristi Hilliard, Samantha Hillard, Conner Leach, Joslyn Leach, Olivia Abernathy and Maggie Abernathy . He loved his kids and grandkids so much and was proud of them.  He loved his family dearly.  He also leaves behind 3 sisters, Evelyn Wright of Bryant, AR, Doris Bonds of Morrilton, AR , Nina McDermott of OH; brother, Jack Abernathy of Bauxite, AR.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2023 beginning at 11:00 am and continue until the 1:00 pm funeral service at Regency Funeral Home, 1839 Pine Bluff St., Malvern, AR  72104 with Bro. Ronnie Hardin officiating.  Burial will follow at Ricks Cemetery in Harrell, AR at 3:30 pm with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
