Lloyd Eldon Smith fell asleep for the last time on February 15, 2024.  Lloyd was born April 13, 1931 in Marvel AR.  He was preceded in death by his one true love, Wanda Bea Smith, lovingly known as Baba in 2019.  Baba and Grandad, as they were affectionately called, were married for 66 years.  He is also preceded in death by his parents Harvey and Eunice Smith of Crossett AR, two sisters Wilma Bryan and Norma Brandt, and one brother James Smith.   He is survived by one brother Kenneth Smith, his wife Shirley of Springdale AR, one sister Shirley Braden of Anderson MO as well as one daughter Paula Taylor and her husband Perry of Hot Springs, AR, two grandchildren Stephanie Wallace and her husband Jody and Jason Taylor and his wife Selena, four great grandchildren Colton Moore, Courtney Moore, Tiffany Taylor and Dillon Taylor, all of Hot Springs, AR,  multiple nieces, nephews, grandogs and grandcats…  He was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1956 and shared his hope with friends and neighbors even into his 90's.  Serving God and living by Bible principles was very important to him.  In fact, as a young boy, he told the story of carrying a phonograph for his older sister Wilma, in order to share the good news of Gods Kingdom with anyone that would listen.  When he was older, he was involved in construction and remodeling of places of worship to further Bible education.  He was known as a man of principle, honor and doing what is right.  He was a man of few words, but when he spoke people listened.  He taught many lessons and shared his knowledge and experience not only with words, but with the way he lived his life and dealt with others.  He was loved by many.  He only had one daughter and two grandchildren, but many others looked to him as a father and grandfather figure.  He was quick to give a strong solid handshake or advice if you wanted to hear it, and more than likely you would get it even if you didn't want to hear it.  His legacy will be one of caring deeply for his family and of never shying away from hard work.   He was passionate about many things, the outdoors, hunting and fishing,  playing his guitar.   He taught countless people about the outdoors, how to scout deer, how to track them, how to tie a hook, put a worm or cricket on a hook, how to clean and prepare it all after a long day, because the day wasn't over till it was all cleaned up and put away in the cooler.  He loved to garden and tell stories about "the old days".  He, at the young age of 70, helped his grandson Jason build a new house and right after that built himself and Baba a house followed by Paula and then Stephanie, 5 years of solid hard work after the age of 70, which he would not of had it any other way.  He lived a long and full life.  He loved to laugh, and nothing would make him happier than as Baba would say "Pickin and Grinnin".  He absolutely loved playing the guitar with a group of friends.  He was truly in his element when in the woods, on the water, or with an acoustic guitar on his lap…To have lived the life he lived, leaving the legacy and memories that will live on for decades, is truly an example of something to be celebrated.  Although for a while he is sleeping and we will truly miss him, we look ahead to the wonderful time soon when he will be resurrected to paradise Earth.

Visitation will be at 1:00 PM Sunday, February 18th at Regency Funeral Home. Services will follow at 2:00 PM with Randall Mann officiating. Burial will be in Rockport Memorial Gardens.
