Obituary

Loyd Paul "Buddy" Thompson, Jr. died January 20, 2024. He was raised on a farm in Hot Springs, Arkansas with his six siblings. He graduated from Lakeside High School and studied sciences at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. He grew up in Park Place Baptist Church.

Loyd served honorably in the United States Air Force. During his military years he worked and traveled the world. His life was a great adventure living and traveling throughout the United States and the globe. Loyd spent his career in sales, including owning a Goodyear Tire and Appliance store in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, and an insurance agency in Hot Springs, Arkansas. He could fix anything from engines to electronics and was always tinkering.

Loyd had a gift of connecting with people and greeted everyone with a smile. He helped teach neighborhood children to ride bikes and young people to drive cars. Loyd deeply loved his parents, brothers and sisters, three daughters, six grandchildren, two great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. He was especially proud of his daughters and their achievements.

Many thanks to the staff at Nightingale in Arkadelphia for being his community and caring for him in recent years.

A private service for family members will be held at a later date.
