Obituary

Marilyn (Granny) Stevens, age 82, of Glen Rose, passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2025. She was born on December 13, 1942 in Williston, ND, the daughter of Frank and Irene Cartier Sowitch. She worked at a shoe factory for many years before working as the activity director at the Benton Senior Center. Marilyn loved everyone and was known as Granny to many. She also loved going to yard sales. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Malvern.

Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, Alice Sowitch; husband Curtis Stevens Sr.; sons, Frank and Willie Stevens; daughter, Kay Stevens; and grandchildren, Marly and Robert and one brother, Frank Sowitch.

Left to cherish her memory, sons, Curtis Stevens Jr. (Mary) of Glen Rose and Billy Joe Stevens (Holly) of Magnet Cove; daughter, Gloria Conyers of Glen Rose; sister Gloria Suess of Santa Ana, CA; grandchildren, Jimmy, Katherine, Jami Kay (Jim), Janice (Kyle), Jake (Summer), Morgan (Shaun), Dillan (Amber), Abby (Brent), Damien, Daulton, Summer, Cole, Trey (Becca), Johnny (Misty), Bobby, Joshua (Stephanie), and Matt (Kodie); and numerous great-grandchildren.

A Rosary will be held on Sunday, August 31st, at 4pm, with the viewing at 5pm, at the Regency Funeral Home Chapel.

The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Johns Catholic Church on Monday, September 1st at 10 am, with Father Mark Wood officiating. Burial to follow at Magnet Cove Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Jason Clements, Tim Huckaby, Lyndon Robertson, Jake Stevens, Josh Stevens, and Dillan Stevens. Honorary pallbearer is Joe Milam.

Special thanks to Dr. Higginbotham's Clinic, Dr. Cleveland, Cody Williams, Michelle Chidester, Lynn Henderson, Palliative Community Resources, and her caregivers, for the wonderful care that was provided.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Friends of Arkansas Health Center (6701 Hwy 67 Benton, AR 72015) for the residents of the Pine Units and their activities.
