Obituary

Marsha Lynn McMillan Smith, age 73, of Malvern, was graciously ushered into heaven on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at CHI Hot Springs. She fought the fight and relied heavily on her faith during this 12-year battle.  Marsha was born on June 10, 1951 in Gurdon, AR, the daughter of William and Pauline Marbury McMillan. She graduated from Gurdon High School in 1969 and went on to complete 2 years at SAU from 1969-1971.  After college Marsha went to work for Arkadelphia Human Development Center, where she would work for over 40 years until her retirement. On February 14, 1998, she married the love of her life, Charles Wayne Smith Jr. After retirement, she went to work part time as the Office Manager of the Magnet Butterfield Water Authority from 2000-2018.  Marsha was a member of Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church where she was the church pianist and taught the children's Sunday School Class for many years. She was also a member of the Malvern Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.  Marsha loved to read, travel, color artwork, and cross stitch.

Marsha is preceded in death by her parents William and Pauline McMillan, nephew Jason Scott McMillian, and father-in-law Cotton Smith.

Left to cherish her memory are her, loving husband of 26 years, Wayne Smith; siblings, Donnie McMillan of Marshall, MO, Ronald 'Ronnie' McMillian (Shirley) of Arkadelphia, Mary Elizabeth Golden (David) of Arkadelphia, Paula Kay Golden (Danny) of Arkadelphia, and Charles Thomas 'Tommy' McMillan (Donna) of Gurdon; sister in-law, Jan Rooker (Jeff) of Little Rock; mother-in-law, Barbara Smith of Magnet Cove; nephews and nieces, Amber Crane, Autumn Leach, Aaron McMillan, Corey McMillan, Scott McMillan, Chris Golden, Michelle Golden, William 'Paul' McMillan, and Olivia Rooker Welhoff; and a host of great nephews and nieces.

Visitation will be on Saturday, August 17th from 5-7pm at the Regency Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, August 18th at 2 pm, at Regency Funeral Home, with Bros. Doug Burch and Don McCutcheon officiating. Burial to follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery

Pallbearers are Aaron McMillian, Corey McMillan, William Paul McMillan, Scott McMillan, Chris Golden, Cole Welhoff Brady Michael, Geoffrey Schaffer, and Lukas Wingfield.

Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons Richard Bennett, Joe Bennett, Steven Michael; Chief Chris Brewster and the Malvern Fire Department and Chief Brian Billings and the Magnet Cove Fire Department.

The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Tim Webb and the entire staff at the Genesis Cancer Center for their compassion and care; and Dr. Shawn Purifoy and staff at Malvern Family Medical Clinic for the wonderful care they provided. A special thanks also goes to Denise Smith, a loving caregiver.
