Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the recent passing of Marvin Dale Simmons, Jr.  Marvin was born on January 29, 1958 in Portland, Oregon and passed away December 14, 2025.

He is preceded in death by his father Marvin Dale Simmons, Sr.

He is survived by mother; Norma Jean Simmons, children; Gregory (Maranetta), Carolyn (Mark), Travis, Beau Dean (Sara), and Clifford, nine grandchildren, one great granddaughter, sisters; Cheryl (David), Donna, and Marcia as well as numerous relatives and friends.

He was truly one of a kind. He worked for forestry, logging, lumbermills, and then moved on to trades as a certified professional roofer with an eye for detail. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and walking on the riverbanks in search of petrified wood, attending sport games with his grandsons, and sharing stories with friends and family. He often took road trips to enjoy nature and the beauty of God's creation.

A few years back Marvin Dale volunteered for a non-profit society that provided services to drug addicts and homeless persons in a major North American city's core. This inspired him to pursue a higher education, so he enrolled in university where he obtained his Bachelor of Integrated Studies. He was on the dean's list, honor roll, and achieved PHI THETA KAPPA and ALPHA CHI honors.

Marvin Dale loved God and family, helped the needy, and met the challenges of life with faith and hope. The word of God gave him daily strength and courage as he traveled life's journey.

The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses for their unwavering support, compassion, and care for Marvin Dale. Your presence brought peace and comfort in a difficult time.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Palliative Care Unit, CHI St Vincent Hospital, Hot Springs, Arkansas.

His celebration of life will be held at Cyprus Cemetery on Friday December 19, 2025 at 1:00 PM.
