Mary June Carver, age 93, of Malvern, AR, passed away on October 21, 2023, at CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs following a brief illness. Carver was a long-time member of Francois Missionary Baptist Church in the Gifford community, where she had resided most of her life. Since 2019, Carver had been a resident of Arbor Oaks Nursing Home in Malvern. A graduate of Henderson State Teachers College, Carver taught 1st and 2nd grades, originally at Gifford, and later at Glen Rose Elementary for over 30 years, retiring in 1985. She is loved and remembered as "Mrs. Carver" by her many former students.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Carver, to whom she was married for almost 59 years. Also preceding her in death were her parents, James Carl and Mary Agnes Clift; one brother, Calvin Clift; and one sister, Katie Speer.
Carver is survived by one son, Conrad, of Butterfield; two sisters, Gaylia (Darrell) of Searcy, and Dottie Bailey of Malvern; and two brothers, Noel (Sandra) and Norman (Joyce) Clift, all of Malvern, as well as a host of adoring nieces and nephews. She is also survived by special friends and former caregivers, including Cookie, Lillian, Tammy, Betha, Racheal, Lou Ann, Brenda, Mary and Louise.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday October 25th, at Regency Funeral Home in Malvern, AR at 1 pm with funeral services to follow, at 2:00pm, at Regency Funeral Home. Following the service, a short graveside service will be held at Francois Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are nephews, Mike Hawthorne, Matthew Davies, Jeff Clift, Allen Carver, Vaughn Carver, and Danny Phillips, great nephew, Andrew Hawthorne, and family friend, Eugene Beasley.
Honorary pallbearers are Clyde Speer and Darrell Hawthorne.
Her family wishes to thank the nursing staff of Arbor Oaks for the care and comfort they provided to Mrs. Carver while she was in residence there.
