Obituary

Mary Ann (Carter) Looper, age 83, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 10, 2026 at her home.  She was born December 20, 1942, to the late Clayton and Effie Mae (Fitzpatrick) Carter.  She worked at the Buckstaff Bathhouse.  She was of the Baptist faith.  Mary was described by many as "a gentle soul".  She loved knitting and it brought her great joy to give away what she made to others.  She also enjoyed gardening.  Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother-in-law Wayne Ritter.

Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Fenton Looper; daughter, Kim Hucal of Hot Springs; sisters, Bonnie Ritter, Jane Hughes (Hubert), and Brenda Bunn (Gerald); numerous nieces and nephews; and her beloved cat, "Pooter".

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

The family would like to extend a special "Thank You" to the Hospice Home Care Staff and nurse, Lona Stephens; special friends and neighbors – Melvin and Dianna Bates, Tara Beth Palmer, Nelie Harmon, Rick and Pam Dwyer, Austin and Kristen Gibbs, Sue Bristow, Minnie Hansen, John and Fran Blankenship and family, Bruce and Jan Hubbard, Rex Reagan, Russell Reagan, Patsy Reagan, John Furnas, Micheal and Lawuana Mooney, Harvey and Priscilla Couch, Bill and Patty James, and Sandy Glover.
