Nelda Jane
Wingfield
Dec 28, 1946 — Aug 25, 2025
Glen Rose
Nelda Jane McMullen Wingfield, age 78, of Glen Rose, passed away on Monday, August 25, 2025. She was born on December 28, 1946 in Donaldson, AR, the daughter of William and Maxine Haugland McMullen.
She was everyone's Mamaw! You could always find her in the kitchen ready to feed everyone who walked in the back door and greet them with the biggest hug! Her greatest passion was cooking, sewing, cleaning and tending to her flowers. Her world revolved around her kids & grandkids, cooking them all her famous homemade pancakes, which was a staple when they visit. If you didn't find her at home, we knew she was running the roads with her brother Bob. She enjoyed going on road trips with her kids and taking a picnic lunch.
Mamaw lived her life as a true servant of others, guided by love, humility, and her unwavering faith in God. She was also a member of Fairplay Missionary Baptist Church. Her days were filled with acts of quiet devotion—cleaning homes with care, helping to raise little ones as if they were her own, and preparing meals that brought family and friends together around the table. She gave freely of her time, her energy, and her heart, never asking for anything in return. To know Mamaw was to know kindness in its purest form. She treated every person she met with dignity and compassion, and it was often said that she would give the very shirt off her back if it meant someone else would be better for it.
Nelda is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 48 years, Louis "Butch" Wingfield; brother, Jerry McMullen; daughter in-law, Carla Wingfield and baby, Joey Wingfield.
Left to cherish her memory, her son, Michael Wingfield (Angela); daughter, Debbie Wingfield; brother, Bobby McMullen; six grandchildren and spouses, eleven great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; special friends, Mary Jane O'Neal and Martha Ray; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 27th from 6-8pm at Regency Funeral Home.
The Graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 28th, 10am at Fairplay Cemetery, with Bro. Aaron Polk and Bro. Bob McMullen officiating.
