Noreen Houpt, age 74, of Benton (formerly of Malvern), passed away unexpectedly on Monday May 4, at her home. She was born February 12, 1952, to the late Roscoe and Vida (Tatum) Henthorne. She was a homemaker and bookkeeper. She was of the Assembly of God faith and was President and Grant Coordinator of the HSC Historical Society. She enjoyed studying genealogy, taking care of her potted plants, and was an avid reader and bird watcher.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her first husband and father of her children, Johnnie Edwin Houpt Sr., and second husband, Ferman Ward; son, Jason Edward Houpt; and brothers, Sean, Dick Jr., and Nathan.
Survivors include her daughter, Rachel Chance (Michael) of Malvern; sons, Johnnie E. Houpt Jr. (Terry) of Sherwood, Jeff Houpt (Connie) of Oklahoma, and Jacob Houpt of Benton; grandchildren, Katherine Houpt, Johnnie Houpt III (Sabrina), Pleaz Mendez, Hope Lybrand, Jason Houpt, Alexander Houpt, Joshua Houpt, Grace Houpt, Mason Bird, and Eleanor Houpt; great-grandchildren, CJ, Anthony, and Zula; brother Jeff Henthorne (Kathy) of Pindall; brother-in-love, Roger Finney (Michelle) of Benton; sisters, Nancy Rankin (Ruben) of Lonsdale, Weesie Maynard (Ernie) of Glen Rose, Lou Wyatt of St. Joe , Kaye Adams of Perryville, Faye Henthorne of Marshall, and Jane Turner (Devin) of Kilgore, TX as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Monday, May 11, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Regency Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday, May 12, at 10:00 AM at Regency Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Hieter officiating. Burial will follow at Big Creek Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Johnnie Houpt III, Joshua Houpt, Mason Bird, David Preston Harris, Jason Houpt, Roger Finney, Alexander Houpt, Synnova Henthorne, GraceCatherine Houpt, and Walker Finney.
Memorials may be made to the HSC Historical Society.
