Olen "Shorty" Sims, 97, of Malvern passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2022.  He was born December 8, 1924, in Gifford, the son of the late Edward and Elizabeth Threet Sims. Olen served in the United States Navy.  He was a member of Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church and the Disciples of Christ Sunday School Class. Olen enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening and watching the Razorbacks.  Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 74 years, Odie "Judy" Marie Brooks Sims; daughter, Linda Jones; siblings, Curtis, Lonard, Nellie, Willie, Eunice and Margie and son-in-law, Ronnie Finkbeiner.

Survivors include his son, Larry (JoJo) Sims of Hot Springs; daughter, Debbie Finkbeiner of Benton; son-in-law, Randy Jones; grandchildren; Deana Henningsen, Shelly Clift (Eddie), Rhonda O'Neal (Bryan), Carla Ellis (Chuck), Tiffany Gibson (Chris), Scott Finkbeiner (Erica), Brenna Bray and Aubree Sims; great grandchildren, Tyler (Mikayla), Victoria, Keeleigh (Trey), Connor, Olivia, Kaitlyn, Hayley, Blake, Noah, Nick and Heaven; four great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be Friday, December 9 at 2:00pm at Regency Funeral Home with Brother Kevin Sims and Brother Don McCutcheon officiating.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to service.  Burial will follow at Fairplay Cemetery.  Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Finkbeiner, Jason Parker, Bryan O'Neal, Chuck Ellis, Connor Henningsen, Mark Henningsen, Tyler Clift, Noah Ellis, Nick Ellis and Mark Wallis.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
