Patsy Lee Cogburn McDermott, 78, of Magnet Cove passed away on Monday, May 1, 2023 at her home. She was born November 25, 1944, in Lono, the daughter of the late Claudie Lee and Mary Ann Gray Cogburn. Patsy graduated from Malvern High School in 1962 and Henderson State University in 1965 with a degree in elementary education. She started her teaching career at Prattsville, where she taught for four years. She also taught at Carthage for two years and finished her teaching career at Poyen School District, where she taught for 26 years. She retired in 1997. Patsy was an active member of Magnet Cove Missionary Baptist Church. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandkids. Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth Chenault.

Survivors, husband of 57 years, Carlon McDermott; son, Jeff McDermott (Shana); brother, Larry Cogburn (Doretta); grandchildren, Paige Floriani (Josh), Bayley Parker (RJ) and Bree Gross (Seth); great grandchildren, Piercen Floriani, Addy Kate Floriani, Henlee Floriani, Josie Parker, and one on the way, Wallis Parker and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Thursday, May 4 from 6:00-8:00pm at Regency Funeral Home.

Services will be held Friday, May 5 at 2:00pm at Regency Funeral Home with Brother David Carroll and Brother Joey McDermott officiating. Burial will follow at Lono Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jeff McJunkins, Ray McJunkins, Brian Cogburn, Bryan Loy, Bobby Wagner, Tim McCarver, Terry McDermott and Tracy McDermott. Honorary pallbearers will be Nathan McLaughlin, Caleb Cogburn, David Chenault and Glenn Gassman.
