Ralph Eugene Speer age 91 of Gifford entered the gates of Heaven with his guitar in hand March 18, 2024. He was born January 18, 1933, in Malvern, the son of Clyde David Sr. and Gladys Paul Speer. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War serving as a morse code operator, after coming home began a career as a delivery man for Nabisco until retirement. He was very active with the Malvern Senior Adult Center, member of the Arklahoma Band, was currently a member of Rockport Missionary Baptist Church, but had served the Glen Rose Missionary Baptist Church for many years as deacon, and Sunday School teacher. In his free time, he loved collecting Nabisco memorabilia, guitars, but his greatest love was playing music and singing with his family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife of 61 years Verta Speer, sister Shirley Gray, and brother Joe T. Speer.
Left to cherish his memory are his son Garrick Speer (wife Sherri) of Benton, daughter Alana Honold (husband Kevin) of Gifford, his companion Marilyn Norton of Butterfield and her children, Chris Norton, Sheila Alexander (Nic) and Donna Patton, and many grandchildren, Brother Clyde David Speer Jr., (Melba) of Gifford, Sister, Wanda Hankins of North Little Rock, Sister and brother in law Dorthy Barnett (Fred), grandchildren, Kristen Vaughn (Trey), Isaac Speer (Chaleese), Megan Morris (Brady), Shelby Hensley (Jordan), Darby Hensley (Kyler), Brittney McCallister (Cory), and great-grandchildren Issac, Jensen, Elias, Odin, Kove, Bradley, Adeline, Alice, and Josie, numerous nieces and nephews.
The visitation will be Thursday, March 21, from 6-8PM, at Regency.
Celebration of Ralph's life will be at 2:00 PM Friday, March 22, 2024, in the Regency Funeral Home Chapel with Brothers Brad Warren, Rick McClure, and Dillon Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Francois Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Greg Moring, Corey Rose, Mark Rose, Aaron Speer, David Speer and Darren Wheeler.
Special thanks go to his special music buddy, Chris Hoskins, Dr. Shane Higginbotham, Jessica at UAMS ICU, and Arkansas Hospice St. Vincent Little Rock.
