Obituary

Reece W. Young, age 87, of Malvern AR passed away at his home on July 26 ,2023.  He was born April 21, 1936 in Brush Creek, AR.  He was the youngest of 10 children born to Horace & Ethel Young.  Reece married Floy Dean Tate on March 16, 1956; she was the love of his life.

Reece retired as a Master Sergeant, after 20 years of service in the US Air Force.  His travels while in the military included Africa and The Philippines.  His family has fond memories of them being stationed with Reece while he was there.  He is a Veteran of the Vietnam War and will be buried with full military honors.

Upon military retirement the family moved to Malvern in 1974.  Reece was a welding instructor at Ouachita Vo—Tec for 20 years; he retired from there in 1994.  Afterwards, Reece enjoyed going camping and boating with the family, especially at Lake Catherine.  He had large family cookouts at his home and enjoyed sitting by the fire pit in the evenings.

Reece also enjoyed spending evenings at The Malvern Moose Lodge #2365.  Reece was an avid pool player and won many trophies.  He was a longtime member and served as President in his 30+ years as a member.

Reece was proceeded in death by his wife, Floy Dean Young; his daughter Lorrie Williams; his sons-in-law: Tommy Williams, Tommy Smith, Ernie Holmes and his grandson TW Smith.

He is survived by his children Susan Holmes, Robert (Rene') Young of Colorado, and Michelle Young.  Grandchildren:  Mike (Amber) Sparks; Karly, Dylan & Nick Williams; Courtney (Josh) Hall; Megan Young; Tara & Darbi Burnett & Hannah Edmondson; and sister, Dorothy Bolliera.  Reece also has numerous great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. He is also survived by companion Linda Hazlewood.

Services will be held Monday, July 31 at 2:00 pm at Regency Funeral Home with Brother Vance Nutt officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service. Immediately following, there will be a Military Honors Ceremony held at Hunter's Chapel Cemetery in Leola. After graveside service, a Moose Lodge Memorial and Reception, honoring Reece, will be held at the Malvern Moose Lodge. Pallbearers will be Mike Sparks, Nick Williams, Josh Hall, Terry Voss, Steve Chadwick and Tommy Overton.

The family would like to sincerely thank The Gentiva Hospice Staff for their expertise and kindness during this difficult time.
