Obituary

Sister Ruthie Lee Young, of Malvern, Arkansas transitioned to Glory on Sunday, March 12, 2023, at 8:59 p.m. at Encore Healthcare & Rehabilitation in Malvern, Arkansas with Family by her side.

She was born May 17, 1946, to Alice Bailey-Mitchell and Lee Mitchell who proceeded her in death.  She was joined in Holy Matrimony to Eugene Young Jr. on May 5, 1967, who proceeded her in death. She has two siblings that proceeded her in death and one child:  John Parrish and Bill Mitchell.  Child, Martha Young.

Sister Ruthie accepted and confessed her Hope in Christ at an early age.   She was a faithful, and dutiful member of the Mount Willow Baptist Church and currently named Victory Praise and Worship Church; under the former leadership of the late Pastor Samuel L. Dorn and Pastor J.O.T. Lea.  Currently under the leadership of Pastor Henry Mitchell.  Sister Ruthie served on the Pastor's Aide.  She loved raising money for Sunday School and other auxiliaries of the Church.  She could be heard throughout the service, shouting "Yes, Lord!  Yes, Lord!

She was a loving and devoted Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend. Sister Ruthie was a social butterfly that had a contagious laugh that filled the room.  Her life spoke for her; she loved to say as her mother taught her "give me my flower while I live".   She loved to cook and was known for her pound cake, 3-layer caramel cake, sweet potato pie, fried chicken and chicken and dressing.   To know her was to love her.

She leaves to mourn her passing and to cherish her memories: Sons, John Young (Katherine) of Bossier City, Louisiana and Eric Young (Kendra) of Conway, Arkansas; daughter, Monica Young (Ronald Dade) of Malvern, Arkansas; Sisters, Louise Lawson (Willie) of Malvern, Arkansas, Mattie Bell McClain of Malvern, Arkansas, Jackie Parrish-Smith, Little Rock, Arkansas; Brothers; Sammy Lee Mitchell, and Ronnie Gene Mitchell, of Malvern, Arkansas.  Aunt, Queen V. Robinson, of Malvern, Arkansas; Uncle, Chester Bailey, of Memphis, TN; Brother-in-love, Abel Hudson (Elaine) of Hot Springs, Arkansas; sisters-in-love, Maude Pierce, Christine Mitchell, and Linda Biggs, of Malvern, Arkansas; Lois Parrish of Little Rock, Arkansas; Karen Young-Morgan of Richmond, California;  Grandchildren, D'Ante Harris (Tiffany), Johna Dotie (Damien), Kamryn Young, Keenan Young, Kassidy Young and Juanesha Wise; great grandchildren, T'Ahana Harris, Tahlia Harris, D'Ante Harris, II, Damien Dotie, Jr., Special Sons, Jeremy Lea, Marc Lindsey, Lee Kuykendall and Charlie Traylor.  Special Friends:  Ms. Exie Canady, and Ms. Carolyn Collins; and a host of other family and friends.

Visitation is Saturday, March 18, from 10AM until 11AM at Victory Praise and Worship Church. Funeral services will begin at 11AM at the church.
Honorary Pallbearers Mark Lindsey, Andre Tuggle, Larry James, Jeremy Lea, Kevin Richardson, Charlie Traylor, Brian Means, Lee Kuykendall, and Jamie Noble.

Interment will be at her home: 213 Flushing Road, Malvern, Arkansas at a later date with Family.
