Obituary

Sara F. Beck (Susie), age 73 of Malvern, passed away on the evening of June 1, 2024, at Arbor Oaks. She was born October 5, 1950, to Henry RC and Loda Burnett of Malvern.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her only sister Shirley Burrow of Big Creek, her youngest brother Tony Burnett of Malvern, and by her husband of 23 years James Beck of Malvern.

She is survived by two brothers, Roger Burnett (Sue) and Ricky Burnett of Hot Springs, six children, John Hughes (Barbara), Kandy Spurlin (Kevin), Brandy Hughes, all of Poyen, Brian Hughes (Tammy), Brandon Hughes (Maria) both of Malvern, and Jamie Beck of Grapevine, a special aunt, Judy Holyfield of Malvern, brother-in-law Nick Burrow of Big Creek, sister-in-law Sherry Burnett of Malvern, first husband John W Hughes of Malvern, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Susie started her working years as a waitress and ended up at the H&H Snack Bar with her mom and sister. Later on, she became an apartment manager, and managed several complexes over the years. When she and her second husband James got together, he joined in and maintained the properties. Susie loved to fish, and she and James fished all over Arkansas and beyond. One of their special fishing trips was to Felsenthal every year, with plenty of family members tagging along. Susie enjoyed going to casinos, especially in Vegas. She was also a fantastic cook, and everyone enjoyed her food.

She was lucky to have a loving sister-in-law (Sue) that helped take care of her till her passing. She also had some very special friends that were always there for her, Sandy Irwin and her son Chad. We would also like to thank her loving nieces Kim and Kelly for their help, as well as any others that helped Susie in her time of need.

She will be cremated, and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
