Shirley Nichols, 87, of Traskwood passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2023.  She was born June 8, 1935, in Fort Scott, Kansas, the daughter of the late Edward and Emma Smith Lowry.  Shirley was of the Baptist faith. Shirley loved woodworking and crafting.  Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Durell Nichols; brothers, Edward, Richard, Ronnie, Melvin and Larry Lowry.

Survivors, sons, Steven Nichols (Dee Ann Bolton Nichols) of Houston, TX., and David Nichols (Melissa) of Prattville, Alabama; daughter, Pamela Shoptaw ( Tony) of Benton; sisters, Rosemary Littleton (Walter) and Carol Sue Lowry all of Fort Scott, Kansas; eight grandchildren Lance Nichols, Shelby Nichols, Derek Shoptaw, Nick Shoptaw, Alli McDonald, Janna Morgan, Brandon Nichols, Hannah McCall, and Wesley Nichols , thirteen great grandchildren, Numerous nieces and nephews and her favorite companion, her dog Abby.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, January 19 at Damascus Cemetery with Brother Stan Allen officiating.

Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
