Stephen Olan Harmon, aged 78, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, formerly of Malvern, passed away peacefully on Oct. 29, 2024 after a long illness.

Steve was born on February 11, 1946 in Wewoka, Oklahoma to the late Olan Butler Harmon and Gertrude Rowe Harmon Carman of Malvern, Arkansas.

Steve was a dedicated family man whose sense of humor and kindness touched everyone around him. Known for his collection of crazy socks, collectible ball caps, and cowboy boots, Steve had a witty and warm way of connecting to people. A caring father, Steve attended father-daughter dances with his girls, took them traveling to places far and wide in the United States, taught them math at the dinner table, and always welcomed with open arms the new members of the family as they were introduced, first as dates, then spouses, and later children and grand-children. He was quiet but he was always listening with love.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Linda Harmon, his former wife, Sharon Darrow (Jerry Phillips), his cherished daughters, Kristen Harmon (Sara Konkel), Elizabeth Langwith (Scott), Stephanie Harmon (Chad), and five grandchildren.

A 1964 graduate of Malvern High School, Steve graduated from Henderson State University with a degree in Accounting and began his career with Texas Eastern Transmission Corporation in Shreveport, Louisiana. For nearly forty years he worked as an accountant for Sears, Roebuck & Co. in Louisiana, Oklahoma, Texas, and Chicago, Illinois. Steve served in the National Guard for 6 years. For many years, Steve was a member of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Steve enjoyed photography, especially photographing the Southwest. While traveling, he enjoyed trying out different activities, like downhill skiing and even deep-sea fishing. He also liked music and art, and was an avid follower of world news and politics.

He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

An open house memorial to honor the life of Steve Harmon will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 5 from 2-5pm, in The Community Center at The Cottages (921 Shady Grove Rd. Hot Springs, AR).
