Virginia Schaffner, age 97, of Malvern, AR, passed away on November 2, 2023. Virginia was born on August 23, 1926, in Waldron, AR, the daughter of Claude and Nannie Walker Gimlin. She enjoyed embroidery in her younger years, going to the deer woods in Arizona with her family, visiting with her siblings, being a homemaker and the mother of a large family. She moved to Malvern in 1994 to be closer to her daughter and attended Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church.

Virginia is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Dewey Fort, and Richard Schaffner; brothers, Emmett Gimlin, John C. Gimlin, Billy Joe Gimlin, and Robert Earl Gimlin; sisters, Mary Frances Bruton, Lou Velda Clark, Claudine Martinez, and Betty Evans; daughters, Virginia Carol Fort, and Judy Riddle; grandsons, Rick and Brandon Schaffner; and great-grandson, Jace McDougal.

Left to cherish in her memory, sons, Bill Fort (Helen) of Piney, AZ, Richard Schaffner (Sandy) of AZ , and Frank Schaffner (Nyla) of  AZ; daughter, Alta Bennett (Richard) of Magnet Cove; brother, J L Gimlin (Debbie) of Missouri; grandchildren, Toben Bennett (Sandra), Amber Howard (Budd), Von Michael (Steven), Cher McDougal (James R), Frank Schaffner Jr. (Jennifer), Cody Schaffner (Trish), Tyler Schaffner, Daniel Fort, John Wipff, and April Hylan (David); twenty-three great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 25th at 2pm at Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be at Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
