Obituary

William "Bill" Cordell age 89, of Malvern, took his first breath in Heaven on Saturday, December 28, 2024. Bill was born at home on January 28, 1935, in Hot Spring County. He was the only child of A. J.  and Nellie Walker Cordell. Bill graduated from Ouachita High School in 1953. He served in the National Guard for eight years (1953-1961). He worked his way night shift stock clerk to manage Kroger stores in Benton, Arkansas. Bill served the Benton community through the Kiwanis Club. Bill coached girls' softball. He enjoyed sports and made every effort to be at his children and grandchildren's games and activities.

He loved the Lord and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. He served on committees and taught Men's Sunday School Class. Gospel music was a major part of his life. He enjoyed being a member of a quartet, singing lead as well as tenor. He welcomed family and friends to his home often singing around the piano. He was an avid bream fisherman and hunter.  In November 2022, he bagged his last deer, an eight point.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and many cousins who were like brothers to him.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 67 years, Joette Brashears Cordell, daughter, Melanie Howard (Rusty), sons, Steve Cordell (Anita), Joel Cordell (Kristy), his grandchildren, Adam, Sarah, Andrew, Rebekah, Katie, Allison and Amanda; great-grandchildren, Dillon, Alexis, Addison, Halle, Tanner, Jace, Colter, and Claire, and, his Aunts, Vera Davis and Susie Walker, and numerous cousins and host of friends.

Visitation will be Thursday January 2, 2025, from 10AM until 11AM at Regency Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be at 11:30AM at Pleasant Hill Cemetery with Brother Donis Smead officiating. Pallbearers are Steve Cordell, Joel Cordell, Adam Cordell, Andrew Cordell, Caleb Parish and Jeff Caple.
