Lynn Ray "Noel" Hobbs of Illinois, formerly of Malvern, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at the age of 67. Lynn was born, along with his twin sister, Lenora, on April 21, 1946, in Malvern, to Ray and Mattie Tanner Hobbs. He graduated from Malvern High School and served in Vietnam and the Army National Guard. He was a member of Faith Assembly of God church in DuQuoin, Illinois.
Lynn was a natural charmer and story teller. He was quick-witted and enjoyed making others laugh. His smile could light up a room. He was a singer/songwriter and in his later years, he enjoyed witnessing to others about Christ through his music. He enjoyed prison ministry and also restoring old vehicles and houses. But his greatest joy came from loving God, his wife, Linda and his children and grandchildren.
Lynn is survived by his wife, Linda Hobbs of Tamaroa, Illinois; son, David (Tresa) Hobbs of Bauxite; daughters, Tina (Todd) Gragg of Ozark, AR and Laura Griffin of Hot Springs; seven grandchildren, Landon, Tori, Gabby, Blake, Josh, Gage and Laney; brother, Arlon (Rita) Hobbs of Malvern; sisters, Loreen Stone (Ferrel Sirett) of Malvern, Linda (Doyle) Henderson of Malvern and Lenora (Jr.) George of Donaldson, along with many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews. Lynn is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ralph Hobbs and sister, Kathrine "Kay" Hobbs Ross.
Visitation will be on Friday evening, January 31 from 6:00-8:00pm at Regency Funeral Home.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 1 at 11:00am at Regency Funeral Home with Brother Tony Burrow officiating. Interment will follow at Rockport Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Danny Hobbs, Joe Hobbs, Steve Hobbs, Landon Montgomery, Rick Norwood and Kenny Rogers. Honorary pallbearers are Eugene Beasley and Ronnie Reynolds.
In hopes that other lost souls might find Christ, Lynn had requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Teen Challenge International, USA through Regency Funeral Home.
